Microwave backhaul links are characterized by high signal-to-noise ratios permitting spectrally-efficient transmission. The used signal constellation sizes and achievable data rates typically limited transceiver impairments, predominantly phase noise from non-ideal carrier generation. In this paper, we propose a new method to improve the rate over such microwave links. We make use of fact that adjacent frequency channels inactive in many deployment scenarios. argue additional can be transmitted skirts spectral mask imposed on transmission regulation. To accomplish task, present shaped wideband single-carrier using non-Nyquist pulse shapes. particular, design spectrum-skirt filling (SSF) shaping filters follow response, perform detection an accordingly increased sampling at receiver. evaluate information SSF-based considering practical dispersive transmitter receiver processing. compensate for derive tracking estimation techniques, utilize them tandem with nonlinear precoding which mitigates intersymbol interference introduced SSF filter. Quantitative performance evaluations show proposed system achieves higher propagation environment respect conventional Nyquist shaping.
